Founder / Owner
Markus is the great-great-great-grandson of Patrick Guckeen, continuing a legacy grounded in farming, craftsmanship, and community. Deeply connected to the land and its people, Markus carries forward the values of hard work, tradition, and stewardship that have defined his family for generations.
Through Guckeen Cigar Company, he brings the region the finest elite, hand-rolled Nicaraguan cigars, crafted with uncompromising standards of quality and refinement. More than a cigar, the brand is built to restore the tradition of gathering—bringing neighbors together and strengthening community through shared moments and exceptional craftsmanship.

Brooklyn Murphy is the great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Patrick Guckeen, representing the next generation of a family legacy rooted in tradition, place, and community. As Marketing Director of Guckeen Cigar Company, Brooklyn brings a modern vision to a heritage brand, guiding its voice, image, and story with precision and purpose.
She currently attends Portsmouth Abbey Preparatory School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island—the very place where Patrick Guckeen first arrived and set foot on American soil in the 1840s. This historic return to the family’s point of entry into the United States underscores the continuity between past and present that defines both Brooklyn’s role and the company’s mission.
